The Supreme Court handed down a ruling today that rejected the Bush administration’s stance toward terrorism suspects. The Court ruled that detainees held in Guantanamo Bay have a right to trial in a civilian court; a right that has previously been denied. The decision has dealt a major blow to the Bush administration’s legal justification for the detention facilities, but Guantanamo Bay is not expected to close anytime soon.
At least there is a legal debate surfacing, hopefully it enters the presidential debates.
